What is the Share Sell Calculator?
The Share Sell Calculator helps investors estimate their potential earnings from selling shares, factoring in applicable broker commission rates and capital gains tax. This tool is especially useful for evaluating profit margins and understanding net returns after deductions.
How does Share Sell Calculator work with example?
Suppose you purchase 20share units of Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL)from the secondary market at a price ofRs. 300 per share. If you later sell those20 units atRs. 810 per kitta, the following calculations and results can be derived.
We have,
Share Quantity: 20
Purchase Price per Share: Rs. 300
Selling Price per Share: Rs. 810
DP Charge: Rs. 25
SEBON Fee: 0.015%
Broker Commission: Based on transaction volume
Using the share sell formula, we calculate the total amounts as follows:
Total Sale Amount = Share Quantity × Selling Price = 20 × 810 = Rs. 16,200
Broker Commission = Total Sale Amount × 0.36% = Rs. 58.32
SEBON Fee = Total Sale Amount × 0.00015 = Rs. 2.43
DP Charge = Rs. 25
Total Amount Without Tax = Rs. 16,200 - (Rs. 58.32 + Rs. 2.43 + Rs. 25) = Rs. 16,114.25
Total Capital Gain = Total Amount Without Tax - Total Purchase Cost = Rs. 10,114.25
Total Capital Gain Tax = Rs. 10,114.25 × 7.5% = Rs. 755.01
Total Receivable = Total Amount Without Tax - Capital Gain Tax = Rs. 15,359.24
Profit/Loss = Total Receivable - Total Purchase Cost = Rs. 9,311.74
So, after selling 20 shares, your total receivable amount would be Rs. 15,359.24, and your profit would be Rs. 9,311.74.
